Just when I finally thought I'd made up my mind about speakers and receiver (1050i front, 1020i Surround, 1000ci center with Sony 5400 receiver) they stop the 1000-series and start with the 2000-series.

The reason I wanted to choose the Sony is as follows: I auditioned the intended set of speakers with a Yamaha 1900 receiver and found that, while being really good sounding, I missed some decisiveness in the sound, a lack of attack on for instance Rush's "A farewell to kings" album.

Now I'm lost again

I've got a budget of around 3000€ that should cover a receiver and a 5.1 speaker set, preferrably with front floorstanders (the 1050i's were wife-approved

), as I intend to use them in a 60/40 Music/Movie balance.

Thanks for any advice,

Bart

matthewpiano:Stick with the 1000i series. They are awesome speakers and an absolute bargain at current run-out prices.

Here in Belgium they're "special order" items, so I'm afraid I'll not be able to get all of them ...

As the prices of home cinema are lower in here in UK than in Belgium and also with the weak pound, it can be very interesting to buy in UK.

Eric,

you could be right, but given the fact that I've not really made up my mind wrt what to buy ....

I really could do with some expert advice (and some more listening sessions), and sadly, in Belgium you don't find too many shops catering to "medium" budgets: it's either HTIB or the really expensive stuff
