DacMagic sensitive to power transients from the mains supply

The problem is that the DacMagic gets its power from an external power supply with the thinnest cable possible connection from the power supply to the DacMagic. So I guess its not only interfering my other equipment, but is also very sensitive to transients from its power source. This results in sound drop outs whenever we turn on other stuff in my appartment. But what can be done? Its not like I can buy a QED Qonduit cable to isolate it from intereferens (both ways). My Cambridge 640c v2 never had these problems, so its obvious better protected with its interal power source. I live in Denmark and the power in my apartment is not grounded.

Advice welcome 🙂

 Best,Peter

A specialist accessories company called RussAndrews is busy finalising an improved power supply especially for the DacMagic.

It may be finalised in the next few weeks.

I did not have your problem with my USB DAC (with its 'wall-wart' power supply), but when I started using using the dedicated power supply (Firestone Audio 'Supplier') instead, the performance did improve noticeably especially in dynamics and bass.

It cost £105 (Christmas present from wife) but was well worth the money.

It could be worth contacting Cambridge Audio with details of your problem to seek their advice.

Wow. Great. Anywhere I can read about it?

Hopefully they ship to Denmark.

They do ship internationally - see their website.

I don't think any info is released yet, but I got an email reply from them when I enquired.

Digital signals are quite delicate and I am not too convinced by the quality of the supplied power unit - especially the wire lead.

I have seen and own a number of RussAndrews products which are much more robust power supplies/leads specialising in improving mains quality.

Although I have absolutely no issues with my DacMagic - no dropouts or stuttering etc - I am willing to upgrade the power unit if it imrpoves the performance, which has already improved my £1200 Meridian CD player!
