The new DacMagic 100 preview states that you can plug a Windows computer straight in with a USB lead, does the soundcard from the computer control sound quality output or is/can it be by-passed.
Is the Wolfson WM8742 DAC in this liable to be better than the Wolfson WM8740 (2off)DACS in my Arcam CD192 CD Player.

Audio heard through a DAC plugged into the computer via USB bypasses the soundcard.

The only way the computer will then affect sound quality depends on the quality of sound file you play etc.

I will buy WHF tomorrow and read the review.
The question then is whether to buy this DAC and use my old Philips CD650 as a transport and sell the CD192 after doing some comparisons.
