I've just had my two Cyrus 6 Powers upgraded to X Powers and am pondering over whether to Mono bi-wire or Bi-amp. The rest of the kit is a Cyrus 8x CD, a Pre VS2, an LP12 and Spendor S5e speakers. I listen to jazz and classical music.

The advice I've got is that Bi-wire is for Oomph and Bi-amp is for subtlety, but try both. As the old 6 Powers were powerful enough for me, I think that I will go for subtlety. However I am interested in what others think.

Thanks for the advice.

I've already connected up for bi-amping, and found the richness of sound amazing on a vinyl of Copland's Appalachian Spring. It's hard to describe. It sounds sharper and more defined, and some of the soft notes are felt more than heard. Or is it just wish fulfillment having spent the money on the upgrade? Now for Cannonball Adderley.

I will have to reconnect for bi-wiring sometime for the comparison.
