cyrus upgrade

Hi forum,

wonder whether there are opinions :

present system:

8 vs + psx r , speaker AE1 mk 3

lie to upgrade to :

x power , pre xpd, psx r

Anybody has heard the above pre/power combi already, highly recommended by What Hifi ( 8power however)

Howdy Edgar from Canada! I had that pre system only the Pre XVS version of the Pre amp and it was a lovely combination I moved up from the 8 integrated by Cyrus and music came through that I never heard previous on my system. My pre amp was also on a PSX-R I then moved that to my pre amp after I received my power amp. I dont think you would be disappointed and from what I have read on here there new amps are more balanced than previous 🙂

I've not heard that particular combination, but if you enjoy the sound of your current system, no doubt you'll enjoy your proposed set up even more, as the X Power will be providing far more grunt to your speakers, which should give them greater punch and slam, and moving to a pre/power will give you a far more neutral and accurate presentation.

thanks for the comment, will keep you informed about then change, once I have realized it.

David from Frank Harvey is having a similar opinion.Did I understood right you used the PSX R for the pre or power ?

I used the PSX on the Pre amp. Thats where I found it worked the best but of course everyone is different...at least you have that option.
