Looking at Cyrus 6 system There is a choice of a CD6 cd player with a 6A amp, the DAC is in the cd player. Or a CD-T cd player with a 6 DAC amp, where the DAC is in the amp. Given that the CD-T will always need an amp with a DAC inside.

Is there any advantage to either set up?

I think if you had a 6DAC amp you could also digitally connect a DAB tuner to it, and I'm assuming the DAC is similar in both units.

spend the money on a really good dac with a volume control to drive a power amp direct or active speakers

any half decent cd/dvd player will work as a transport then feed into the dac via a 75ohm spdif cable

i use a 15quid pioneer dvd player from fleabay into a mytek 192 dsd dac 1000quid in total

powering a set of active tannoy monitors
