I am getting some building works done at home, so am looking to integrate a home cinema room and also stream music and sky around the house. I have been recommended to the Onkyo 905 and am currently using Sonos. I am also looking to get Sky HD. I got a quote for a custom install, neatly hiding all the equipment in the hall cupboard, whilst wiring everything else in from there rather neatly, but that has come in at a rather pricey £7k. I am therefore trying to look into how I might do this myself (obviously am happy to do some chasing in, lifting floor boards etc) and am looking for advice on how this can be achieved. Looking at some articles and adverts, I understand I may need to run some cat 5 cabling for hdmi etc, but am struggling on the likes of how I would control sky from a different room, how easy and how far I can run hdmi cables etc. any suggestions or advice gratefully received!
