Greetings,

I'm building a system around Creek evolution 2 amplifier and cd player, both of which I already purchased. My intention is to connect it to B&W 685 speakers with Chord chameleon silver plus interconnects and Chord odyssey 4 bi-wire speaker cables. Sadly I'm in no position to listen to different components and cables, so I'm deciding purely on basis of various reviews and suchlike. My previous system (now almost 15 years old) consisted of Arcam amp, Marantz cd-player and B&W speakers, the room is small and my listening choice is wide as can be, from Toumani Diabate and Fred McDowell to Fairport and On-U sound dubsters, and everything in between. As mentioned, the B&W 685 speakers are pretty much also decided upon, the cables however not so. Any suggestions / opinions on speakers, cables and most importantly the entire system as imagined, would be much appretiated indeed.

Many thanks and kind regards to all.

I think a better match for the Creeks would be the Monitor Audio RX2 speakers.

As for cables, you can't go wrong with your choices from Chord. I used the Odyssey 4 and its very good. I have used Chameleon SP also (still do for AV receiver to stereo amp duty) and it's also about as good as you can get for the money.

Pretty much concur with Gerrard - the Creek is a fantastic amp for the money, and when I heard it it was a very brief experience and really can't remember what speakers were being used. Regardless whether you keep the B&Ws or choose something else, there's one thing guaranteed: you'll have years of sonic fun.

As regards leads and accessories most retailers (if you speak to them nicely) will have - or should have - some s/hand or ex-dem ones they use on their kit. It's worth asking the question at the very least.

Good luck.

Creek are designed to be used with Epos speakers. Try some old m series standmounts, or some new m12i standmounts.

Epos speakers are internally wired with dnm reson solid core speaker cable, and creek / epos use dnm either reson or the new stereo speaker cable.

I had the creek evo mk1 with the m5 speakers and used dnm. Very good sound, great detail, and the larger standmounts sound even better than the m5's
