I have just got a new Denon 1910 amp, but am confused as the best way to connect my SKY+ box to it (I am not SKY HD yet), I have a Panasonic 42PZ85 TV and I was going to go with the following:

SKY to TV via Scart lead

SKY to Denon via optical audio cable ( as I have been told this gives better sound)

But a friend had said something about connecting via s-video, is this additional or instead of ?

Many thanks in advance for advice

Don't worry about the S-Video connection - you could send the picture out of your Sky box via this method and let the Denon amp upconvert and upscale the picture so that it can be sent out over HDMI.

In our experience it tends to yield better results sending the Scart picture straight to the screen. You're doing the right thing. You just need to make sure that the right audio input on the Denon is assigned to your Sky box and that in the Sky+ settings you've set the Scart output to 'RGB'.
