connecting ipod to technics micro hifi

Hi all, I would like to connect an ipod to this micro hifi but don't know the best way to do it.

The hifi has analogue inputs (Red and white plugs?)

And an optical output which already has a cable plugged in and has a 3.5 mm jack on the other end

Can I use this at all? Many thanks

The optical cable won't be of much use with the iPod unless you buy a dock able to extract a digital signal from the Apple player, which probably isn't worth the expense at this level.

Simplest way is a cable from the iPod's headphone socket to the aux inputs on the system - you need a '3.5mm stereo to two RCA phonos' cable.
