I remember seeing a post on here on how best to configure the settings for a new TV but can't seem to find it?? I also read about a good setup dvd that you can buy - could someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Thanks - I will try my Star Wars DVD later today if I can find the THX optimiser. Any advice on waht I should do with the brightness, contrast, colour, sharpness etc. on first setting up my tv. I have just setup my Panny TH-42PZ85B for the first time.

Thanks

I have this set and found it to be very good out of the box with only a few tweaks on the normal setting.

Contrast - as it is (approx. 85%)

Brightness - as it is (50%)

Colour - down about 5 button presses (approx 35%)

Sharpness - as it is (50%)

Colour balance - neutral

PNR - off

Colour management - off

Overscan - off

IFC - off

This should give good you a good starting point. It is obviously just my opinion and experience but if this does not give a good picture, you could have a faulty set as my first two were!!

I would suggest that you use these settings or tweak them to your taste, and resist altering them for a day or so that you become familiar with the various aspects of the picture and then do some fine tuning possibly via the optimizer.

Just use the THX optimiser on the Star Wars DVD, it takes you through several steps to get the correct levels for the colour, contrast etc. which will suit you.

Ye i agree that the THX optimiser is very good for settings of contrast & colour although i find the brightness setting is to bright on the THX optimizer, i actually used my eyes to originally set up & callibrate my tv for colour, brightness etc & then when i used the THX optimiser i found that there settings were the same as what id already done (give or take a slight twitch) so your eyes are great judges as what could be a great looking picture to you may not be to someone else, its all down to personal preference at the end of the day!! Happy tweeking !!
