Thought I'd post this in here - bought a pair of these in a computer shop in Edinburgh today; standard 2m RCA phono interconnect. Swapped them in for my Audioquest Copperhead's and can't tell the difference between the two. Used my usual reference discs and have to say I recommend them.

£6.95 a pair.

Looking at the specs for the computergear cable; two types of shielding, gold plated phonos and they appear well made, they should do the job. I have made a cable 'investment' today of £10.47, compared to the cheapest 'audiophile' version of the same which is a DIYer selling at the equivalent of £87. I refuse to pay more than £50 for a cable.

Be careful. I made the mistake of arguing for a similar cable after what? hifi had reviewed it and it turned into a five hundred page epic. Best let 'em slip though the net.

I think it's better that they don't get brought into the limelight. Just my opinion.

This is what got my interest IDC - the spec on the back of the box; I've no idea how it all stacks up against a bunch of other wires, but copper core, two lots of shielding, robust build...the difference is it's mass produced for computer shops and not sold in an expensive hifi shop with a markup of at least 10 times the cost.

Like I said, Audioquest Copperhead - £65 or thereabouts. Computergear 2m interconnect - £6.95 and they sound the damn same. I used the same kit as always, see my signature line, so nothing changed.

It's either this is a little secret the Computergear guys want to keep quiet, or Audioquest want to come clean with their pricing strategy a bit; I need to understand where they're coming from but the more I think about it, the more I keep coming round to "mug's game" as the end square.

Oops - posted in the wrong place....move on, move on, nothing to see here...!

May I ask for specifics? £10.47 has me interested.

It recabling my AKG K702 headphones, for no other reason that I can. I want to eventually make something 'hifi' and cables seems like a good place to start.

I think that you are spot on the record spot. I am sure that many 'audiophile' cables are vastly overpriced and far cheaper alternatives are out there.
