Things to check

1) is the Panasonic outputting component video? Or is it trying to send RGB?

2) Is the LG set to expect component video? Or RGB?

Only if the two match will there be a picture, but remember you'll also need an audio connection - no sound on component video connections.

I have just replace an old tube with an LCD and changed my Panasonic DVD player from scart to component (BTW, you'll see a vast improvement). I found that it didn't work at first and that was because the scart skt I was using before was RGB-enabled and that had disabled the component output. I had to set the old scart skt to S-Video (didn't matter, not using it any more) and the component output sprang into life. Hope that helps.
