Cleaning speaker cones

What's the best way to gets stains off speaker cones? I've got some second hand ones with various stains and marks on them. I've dusted and brushed with a shoe brush and irs not removing them. Is it safe to use a slightly damp sponge? I think thats the only thing thats going to get it off.

I've heard a hoover is quite popular around here. That with perhaps a gentle 30 degrees machine wash, maybe the wool cycle, should be great.

Failing that, a damp sponge will do no damage and if it is a plastic cone, a little bit of silicon spray and a wipe will do the job.

Thanks, a damp cloth did the trick. Now back to trying to get those dents out.
