Hi All,
It's been sometime since I posted. I've been real busy buying equipment since my AVI ADM review and so far everything is panning out real well. I'm going to have a great review coming up that's going to include a large amount of equipment I've tested. Right now I'm totally stuck. I can't believe the amount of headache involved in choosing the right cables! So far I've bought the Chord Crimson's (quick purchase with my Dynaudio 110 Actives) and can't believe how hard it's been to better them. I would stick with them, however the quick purchase was only for a 1.0M length and I'll be needing >2.0M in the room I'll be installing the speakers. Now what have I tried so far,
Chord Crimson (1.0M)
RS Cables (Pure silver interconnects) from the US of A. (2.5M)
Clearer Audio Copper Line (2.25M)
I want to try:
Chord Chameleon (>2.0M)
Now the RS Cables got sent right back as they couldn't outperform the Chord's in my setup. The Chord Crimson have a really unique air in the soundstage about them that I just missed too much with the RS Cables. At the moment I have the Copper Line connected and they too lose the air, however they do other things really well such as better mids and bass. In music with a large number of instruments I find the Copper Line to become a little cluttered and although the soundstage is well placed, for some reason certain instruments don't place well and are more pronounced (comes across as louder) than other instruments in the soundstage. It's still early days as I'm burning them in for another week.
The question I have is with the Chord Chameleon Silver Plus. As I seem to like the Crimson's will I be satisfied with the Chameleon's? Has anyone compared the Clearer Audio cables mentioned with the Chameleon's?
The What Hi-Fi review also doesn't really help me here. Both products are rated at 5* and both are in the same price range. The Chord's were reviewed earlier, does that mean the Clearer Audio 5* rating pushes out the Chord's from a What Hi-Fi perspective? (Hope Clare can answer this one)
Does the fact that my Chord Crimson's are only 1.0M mean that any cable I buy above 2M is just not going to sound that good?
As always, thanks in advance for any help from all the members here.
