Why,whats wrong with just thanking someone within the post if you feel the need. I frequent another forum(non-hifi) that has this feature and it by far the most annoying feature of the forum.

No,not at all, have no problem with credit where credit is due.

But on the particular forum in question you get a big box with a list of names that have given thanks,that gets bigger as more names are listed obviously and ends up taking up most of the page.

That and it's overly abused with some people feeling the need to add thanks to each and every post which kinda renders it pointless imo, plus others wearing the amount of thanks they've received like some sort of badge, and just find the whole thing rather pathetic and pretentious.

Well I see where your coming from but I really couldnt see the same happening here. Plus, if it was done properly youd just see something like '5 people said thanks', Not 5 peoples names (But you should be able to click it if you WANTED to see the 5 peoples names)

Whatever forum you speak of is programmed wrong in my opinion

Yes, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server are two completely different products. John's needs to work with Microsoft SQL Server, not MySQL.

Wish I hadnt bothered now anyways dues to

1 ~ the extremely short answers we get on here thus confusing the situation

2 ~ All I said was the CURRENT software doesnt seem too hot, its not for me to sort out

3 ~ The recent 'ad problem'

4 ~ Something else that majorly gets my back up..............

5 ~ All because I wanted to say 'thanks'!!
