Cheaper alternatives to the Pro-ject Media Box S

Hi all, First time user of this forum - hope someone can help?

Just wondering if there is a cheaper alternative to the Pro-ject Media Box S currently on the market. My dad wants to be able to listen to my digitally stored music collection wthout the need of switching on a computer.

My music is currently on a 500GB external hard drive, but I'll be copying it onto a standard USB memory stick for my Dad to use. All of the tracks are MP3 format.

Presumably you'll be moving it onto the USB stick, since to copy it would be illegal, right?

The cheapest option would then be to use a portable media player and connect that to an amplifier or whatever music system your Dad has, unless he already has a USB input on whatever hifi he uses.
