Due too longer cable runs I'm in need of more disreet cables.

I have at present Chords odessy 2 speaker cables

Looking at Chords Sarsen cable.

How do the two compare in sound ?

Any information welcome...........:) [or other suggestions]

Interestingly (or otherwise) I have, for a few weeks, been assisting a friend with his new system. It is in a very nice room and the speaker cables need to by concealed under a rug that both the system and the speakers sit on.

I thought of using some flat cable that should be virtually un-noticed if laid under the rug, perhaps some entry level Nordost.

However it is rather expensive for the 3 or 4m pair needed and I was wondering if anyone knows of something similarly thin and flat at a more sensible price. Balancing the thickness (thinness really) against a suitable gauge of conductor seems to be the issue. any ideas?

I would expect you to find the sound from the Odyssey to be brighter and more detailed......but I suspect there are few cables that are more discreet than the Sarsen.

I like TQ Blue, but it is less discreet and much more expensive.

Your other option is Van Damme UP LC-OFC, which is good value, but maybe not as discreet.

I'm quite sure that this and many other varients would be absolutely fine sonically but it really is not that flat, that is the point.

The purple (whatever) Nordost is very thin indeed, but silly money, if I could find some used Flatline that would probably do nicely.

No matter how flat the cable it will eventually cause a ridge in the carpet due to sharp edges, therefore I suggest you get some proper cable covers which are designed for this purpose, (You will find them in any DIY Store) you can then use whatever cable you want. (Which unless it’s a really long run can also be picked up at your local DIY store)

Hope this helps

That would be very helpful if I knew what you meant by cable covers.

I am not exactly a stranger to DIY but I have never seen anything that would help.

Ah, those. I thought you had seen something specifically to go under the rug.

Far to thick to go underneath and on top completely defeats the object of the exercise. The best I have come up with is a flat(ish) cable taped to the floor, just trying to minimise the 'bump'.

No foot traffic over the rug so no need for 'protection' as such.

About £100 to £150 and 14 meters in total.

If you can strech your budget I do recommend the Tellurium Q Blue ( about 270 £ for 14 m ) .
