Cd player or DAC for yamaha + kef

Hello!

I am in budget whether to buy CD player (Choice marantz cd5004 or CA 550c) or use my exiosting CD player (Philips ) with DacMagic. Need Advice? Which will have better Synergy

The main benefit of an offboard DAC would be if you're going to add other external sources. If not, then replacing the CD player might be a (neater) option. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the DACmagic - I hear it's good, and so is the 6004 - so it'll be a case of getting a listen to the two if you can. Take your player into a dealer and try out the combinations you wish to compare - preferably on the end of an AS500 and Q100's.

Yes in so far as the potential sound quality of a lossless 44.1kHz 16-bit file is exactly the same as a CD.
