CD Player, Amp & Speakers for £400-£500

I wanna get a new hi fi system but have no idea what to get, I dont really spend more than £500 for a CD Player, Amp and Speakers.

I wanna play this through my Sony 40EX503 tv to get decent sound but at the same time play some music also. Im looking for one with some kind of iPod dock.

Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks

If it's relatively high quality sound you're after then for that budget look at the second hand market. You can pick up decent enough Nad, Cambridge Audio, etc amps and CD players for around £100 each. Same goes for speakers, e.g. Mission M33i speakers available in my area for £110. You might consider dispensing with the CD player altogether if you've ripped all your CDs. Then you can buy a good quality new iPod dock for about £100 (see reviews on this site). Don't forget to budget about £100 for interconnects and speaker cable (also available second hand).
