I have upgraded my AV stuff recently with a Panny 37PX80 and Onkyo 606 with Kef 2005.2 speakers but I have not done anything on the Hifi front for 20yrs.(Mission 80's ,JVC K-100 amp and CD JVC XL-V450) I am looking to up the music side and would ask the following of the Hifi literati.

I have 2 turntables, Dual CS 514 and a Sony PS-J10 .I know I can plug the Sony straight in because it has has a pre-amp but I am not sure about the Dual, and whether it is a better turntable. Also would a top notch CD player (eg Cyrus 6 SE) plugged through the Onkyo be a waste of money,or is the JVC still doing the biz ( it plays a lot of formats uninvented at the time of its build)

For the record I am talking principle not budget as it is all theoretical at the moment.

Comments appreciated.

I couldn't tell you, but as part of a gradual upgrade try the Cyrus and then get a better amp along the line if you feel it's necessary.
