Shouldn't be any reason you couldn't link to those sites (plenty of people add YouTube links every day). Why not just add the URL in your post - we can than edit to make live if necessary. Let us know if you have any other problems. (There could be browser reasons, perhaps? Are you using Internet Explorer?)

As someone else has raised the question, can a moderator tell me why my post in the following thread was deemed worthy of moderation & deletion?

Although, of course, if your YouTube link contains profanity in the video or comments, it will be removed.

Could be because you double-posted in rapid succession, so our spam filters interpreted it as potential spamming.
I double posted because nothing appeared to happen first time I submitted. On the second attempt the same thing happened but I spotted the moderation statement, which was presumably why the first didn't appear. As neither post subsequently appeared, was that a moderator decision or are posts sent for moderation automatically not moderated at all but simply binned?

Edit

And what's with this word verification malarky?

It takes a while for the site to refresh and posts appear. Multiple posts in rapid succession containing external links can trigger the spam filters. The word verification is also an anti-spam measure; our current technology is keeping a lot of spam off the site.
