Hello, I have a problem finding an all in one system to suite me. I have no room for separates as we have just had a new cabinet made and there is very little space it just has 2 slots one for sky + so it has to be all in one . I also have my speaker cables sunk into the wall so I don’t want wireless speakers or tall floor standing ones. I have the KDL-32D3000 so I want a good system for it Hdmi connection i think is a must. I also listen to a lot of CDs, radio and download a lot of music so it would have to be good for music and possible one I can plug my laptop into to play music through.I dont fancy the new sony reviiewed this month it did get a great review but my speakers are going on the wall and think they are to small for the wall. My budget is around £600 but I will be buying on the internet so about £700 high street prices.I no it is a tough one but i do hope someone can help..

Can anyone help before the wife goes for a divorce because of the amount of time i spend looking for this.......haha

I wonder would you be better off going for something like the KEF KHT1005 5.1 speaker package which can be had for £300 plus some sort of combined dvd/amp solution?

I was looking at the Kefs for £250 before the wife came home with this new unit the kefs are great but do you know of a comdined dvd/amp that would go with them because that would be perfect..?

What are the dimensions of the hole the unit needs to fit? And is there space left for ventilation? Sky boxes and receivers tend to run rather hot...

The size is H x W x D

120mm X 450mm x 460mm

Thats the overall sizes i do understand the unit will have to be a bit smaller for ventilation.
the sky plus box is know problem just really struggling with the rest.
Hope these sizes help and hope there is a answer to my problem..

they would go fine with a dvd/amp combo fne, but not sure which are available without sepeakers... someone else on here may be better placed to advise??

doing a little searching the Jamo dvd/amp combo is the only i see available at your budget without speakers, but there are sure to be more out there.

Have you review the jamo dmr 61..?
And would i be able just to add a set of Kef KHT1005 and would they go well together.?

I dont think the dmr has upscaling...?
of the top of your head have i any other opitions?

We've reviewed Jamo DVD receivers and they've done pretty well. You didn't mention upscaling before...

Beyond that, I'm pretty much stymied with the kind of budget you have.

Total buget is around about £750.
How much of a difference will upscaling make..

Tie the wife up. blow the budget. Arcam Solo... and change the Kef's to a B&W MT package. I lurve mine.

Alterantively pick an all in one system you like and eBay the speakers (use the Kef's), maybe a sony one that will have a smart remote to work with your telly....? no guarantee it will complement the speakers, but i'd be very surprised if the Kef's weren't a significant upgrade to alot of those systems. i could be wrong.

Yes, well if we were in Arcam Solo Movie/Linn Classik Movie territory, things would be much easier. But by then I'd be suggesting the Naim n-Vi, and who knows where that might lead us...

Re your plan B, nice idea, but most all-in-one systems use subwoofers powered from the main unit, not onboard amps, or speakers all powered from the sub and connected using a multipin DIN-type connector from the head unit. So that won't work then...

FWIW I still reckon the Sony DAV-IS10 is the best bet. Those speakers may be tiny, but everyone here was amazed by how good they sound. Mind you, connecting the Sony's dedicated speaker plugs may be a bit of a faff if you've sunk thick cables into the wall...

every feel like you are getting no where.............................................
Think it is going to end up buying a very cheap all-in-one.................

Any one know any thing about harman kardon HS 300...........
Or am i better just going to currys and picking a sony system for a few hundred pounds..

I just advised my brother in law to go with one of these little sony set ups, i think they look the biz.

Not a lot, given that the TV (like all flatscreen models) has scaling built-in. Only when you can spend the kind of money where the scaling in the system is likely to be better than that in the TV are the real advantages apparent.

Ahhhh.....did not know that upscaling was built in to my KDL-32D3000..i guess that changes it a bit now
So would the Jamo and the Kef speakers work well together then...?
did not quite get what you said before about some seperate speakers not working with some all in one systems....

I was talking about buying an all-in-one home cinema in a box system, complete with its own speakers, and junking the speakers and just using the head unit with the KEFs, as a previous poster suggested.

Yes, the Jamo and the KEFs will work perfectly well together.

Thats not a problem you can by the jamo dmr 61 unit with out the speakers for £325..

Well if you suggest that ,that will be a good system and the upscalling make no difference i think i will go ahead with it...Many thanks i will let you know how it goes....

Just one last thing would it be better than the HARMAN KARDON HS 300 as suggested to me by someone else..?
