Can a Logitech Harmony remote control a PS3?

That's the question really. The PS3 BluRay remote works by bluetooth I think - not IR, so I'm guesing the Logitech remotes won't control it. Am I right?

Apologies - this should really be in the Accessories forum. I'll post it over there now.

AFAIK no it won't, for exactly the reasons you mention. Looks like a gap in the market there for Logitech, given the number of PS3s out there.

Yeah - I guess they'd have to give their remotes bluetooth alright. Think I'll wait for that to happen. It would bug me to have a "universal" remote and to still need another.

Do you know if the Logitech remotes are recently updated or if they're due?

I guess it'd have to be done with an optional wireless module working on RF, such as the one that comes with the 895 and models above.

Would it not work to just give the remotes bluetooth capability (and pair it with your PS3), as well as IR?

Well yes, but given the PS3 is just about the only device using bluetooth control, an add-on might be a more logical way to do it, rather than increasing costs on all remotes by building it in as standard.

But hey, now we're second-guessing Logitech's business strategy...

Good work on digging that up! Interesting, but I think "kludgy" is the right word. I'm happy with multiple remotes until there exists a cleaner solution.
