I have bought this amplifier.

But I'm not sure what sort of speakers I should get.

Would some Mordaunt Short 902s be a good match?

Or some secondhand mission 751's or 761's?

Or something else?

Please can I have some advice here!?!!?

THANKS! :D

to my ears the 540a and mordaunt short are a bad match, too bright. but it may be to your tastes. you could try some wharfedale 9.1's which are great speakers and i find they gel well with the 540a.

obviously you should audition some different options.

I would try these with some KEF IQ5SE's - they go well with Cambridge Audio kit. What is your source?

I`ll add my vote for the Diamonds. I had the 540 and 9.1 setup for a while and while it was too clinical for me it did sound damn fine.

Mission 751s were superb standmounters - £300-worth of money well spent. Had a pair for a few years; they rocked, had detail aplenty, very tight and clean sound. I've read people talking about these speakers as "warm" which was anything but my experience.

How they'd combine with your 540 is anybody's guess, although it may lean towards the "bright" end of the scale which may or may not be your thing. On the other hand, you can pick up these great speakers for less than £100.
