Caiman input switching

I'm buiding a PC audio system for my father and I'm drawn to an outboard Dac rather than soundcard

Originally I was drawn to the Asus Xonar D2x/ Essense but for not much more I can afford a Caiman Dac. The Cambridge Dac Magic I;m sure is just as good but is twice the price of the Caiman here in NZ. I doubt if it would be twice as good!

The question is, how are the inputs selected after powering on. Are no inputs selected thus requiring you to press the required source each time after powering on the Caiman? Or does the DAc remember what was switched prior to powering off, so that if you only had one input connected (as I am planning on) you wouldn't have to keep switching the input each time?

Thanks
