Cables and Interconnects

With impending upgrade-itis in full swing and looking forward to that 2.5% VAT saving, it occurred to me that I shouldn't overlook the cables and interconnects. I currently have QED Qudos Bi-Wire running between Arcam 85 and B&W P4s and QED Qnect interconnect from Arcam 8SE CD player and amp. The question is whether more modern cabling/interconnects or upgrading will make any significant difference and whether the cost can be justified.

You'd be better off buying a power amp and then in time biamping so you would need to change cable from biwire to biamp.

I guess it all depends on your budget, and which Qnect you're using just now?

The saving won't be 2.5%... The net amount will have 15% added to it instead of 17.5%.

Plus I reckon most places won't pass the saving on anyway...

A very minimal saving which won't persuade me to go out and spend, not that they will pass it on as Roger pointed out - just increase their profit margins! Waste of time for all VAT registered businesses, all of the additional administrative work and then only to revert back to 17.5% after 13 months.

I've got to agree. That small amount will not persuade many people to spend, but will cost the government allot of much needed cash. A bit foolish me thinks.
