Decided to upgrade my DAC today to a dacmagic. Really impressed so far on the initial tests carried out, but managed to break another interconnect cable again (thats with the 2 high grade HDMI cables I broke last year!)....

This time a chord Cobra 3 interconnect.

I simply disconnected my old Dac and replugged in the interconnects to my amp.

Couldn't get any sound coming out so checked the cable and found that I could hand screw the plugs further into the cable. A loose connection I thought. Did this but still on sound!. I opened up the plug on one end and found that the central cable had snapped, so no connectiion. I didn't think I was being particularly heavy handed with the leads

Bought the cable about 10 months ago, so still under warranty. I think I have the box, etc, in the loft so could return to the shop or send back to chord. Think they offer a 10 year warranty on their cables.

My question is, can I try to resolder the joint myself? Due to the connector being hifi, do I need a special type of solder etc?

Also, will the Sonos side of the system benefit considerably with a better interconnector between the Dacmagic & amp than the Cobra 3?

my advice is ring the chord co. and take their advice,if they offer warranty they may not appreciate you repairing it first! ,however if its the only one you have and your desparate to hear your music try the supplying dealer first, they may exchange it outright for you,the chord co. are from all accounts very reasonable to deal with, good luck.

Brilliant stuff. Only problem I have now is that I have checked the loft and found i've binned the packaging and am struggling to find the receipt! Bought from a good dealer and I'm sure that they keep a copy of my purchase on their computer system, so will give them a call tomorrow to see if they can help before I speak to Chord...
