CA 640C V1 or V2?

At present I play all my music from the computer, via a DacMagic (which is superb), however I want to get a CD Player as well (mainly to compare sources).  The V1 has a single DAC; and the V2 has the same twin DAC as the DacMagic.  Am I right in thinking there is no point in me shelling out the extra for the V2 as long as it is connected it via the DacMagic?

IF the transport section hasn't been improved and you'll be running via your DacMagic then yes, you're right, save the cash. There's no need to spend more on a better CD DAC that will be redundant anyway.

It's atill a fair outlay just to act as a comparison reference though. I don't really understand your intention and you may well have a sensible purpose in mind. If you mean you're thinking of maybe switching to a seperate CD player as your main source then go get a proper dem to decide the matter before shelling out your readies.
