I like the look of that McIntosh system but not so sure about the green valve glow. The Moon's look hideous, as do the Blades.
The point, I assume, of Leema's Element system is to save space so to display it on a full size rack and on individual shelves seems a little puzzling ... . Never mind, how did it sound?

Agree mcintosh looks great, blades genuinely hideous, tho I quite like the moon garishness.
As a fan of primare I'm not sure I like the new styling, how does it look in real life?

I don't understand that, if you ask me (which you didn't) they're sleek and elegant, I'd rather have those in the room than the usual square boxes.
The_Lhc said:Well I can assure anyone that there were some far uglier speakers there, the ones in the Paradigm demo looked like they weren't even finished and the giant Tannoys are just stupid looking (literally, they look like they should be outside the house looking in, licking the window whilst making "duuuur..." noises).

They include the duo singing 'live' through a McIntosh and Focal system, the great little GURU Juniors, and the Audio Note system, as well as pics of the PMC SE series, Quads, Spendor, et al.
BenLaw said:What are those white double boxy things that look like a tall washing machine? And the cheap looking glossy red speakers including the toadstool sub, what are they? Yuck!
What was the rest of the system with the zodiac gold / voltikus in and how did it sound?
no idea I'm afraid, I was elsewhere!

If you'd said you 'don't agree' with me I could appreciate that, but not to 'understand' that someone could have a polar opposite view from you on something as subjective as appearance indicates a deficit of some basic adult human qualities (like sympathy and empathy).
The_Lhc said:Jesus Christ, over analyse much? It means nothing of the sort, it means, very simply, that I don't understand how something that is basically two parallel lines with a curve on top can be regarded as "hideous". Hideous is a strong word, I could understand plain (they don't have any embellishment to speak of), I could probably see where "boring" would be coming from but hideous is excessive, especially without any sort of expansion on why.
It's like when people use the word "hate" when they mean "mildly dislike", just a bit over the top isn't it?

busb said:Hideous is an understatement - they make a moose seem beautiful by comparison. Then again, there's no accounting for taste. They may well appeal to those who prefer to listen in total darkness. Thinking outside the box is all well & good when the result is elegant both in function & looks.

Er, no, it's not over the top or excessive, I find them hideous. It's still really weird that you can't 'understand' someone has a different view from you, even a very different one. Subjective opinions on the appearance of speakers is not something that can be easily rationalised in the way you are attempting to.
