Hi.
As per subject line i'm more than halfway through a new family home self-build project. As it's a house for life i am adopting a strategy where i can of do it once, do it right. The budget is certainly not unlimited but i want to, where i can, futureproof the house for home cinema/networking/automation etc. Wire is relatively cheap, running them is easy and i have no plasterboard or plastering done yet but most of the electrical 1st fix is done.

So with necesary explanation given here are a few questions i'd appreciate advise on. Remember i'd have a mid-range budget for systems down the line. For now i want to try to make some decisions on scheme layout etc so i can get wires, tracking, conduit, power points etc in the right place....

Q1. Surround sound. So i'm gonna be putting a TV lhs of fireplace and bookcase/studwork in which to hide the unsightly stuff. Subwoofer, central and front LHS and RHS speakers will go in this set up roughly at ear level at appropriate angles/distance from viewing position. For the other 'side' speakers which is better - ceiling, floor or wall-mounted?

Thats enough Qs for now. Too much waffle already....

A diagram showing size and seating etc inc doors, windows. Best/£ will be floorstand/standmount but neatness in wall. I reply only in general terms. Lots of options dependant on style & budget preferences.
