Bose - Prepare to be spontaneous

Has anyone seen the new Bose teasers? They're planning a product launch on 15th September. Looks like a rival to AirPlay & Sonos.

Check their Facebook page

Does anyone have any info as to what product are they launching?

I'd hazard a guess at a portable Bluetooth-type speaker (maybe an evolution of their current SoundLink speaker, which only works from a rather large USB key at the moment..?)

I'm thinking Play 5 speaker, but battery powered, basically.

Apparently, Bose submitted a new headset to the FCC for approval with the model number BT2L. Reading between the lines, some form of wireless headset seems to be on the cards

Maybe "Prepare to be fleeced..." would be more appropriate

Lack of open mind? Check.

Lack of originality? Check.

Ability to pre-judge something without even knowing what it is yet? Check.

Yawn.....

You know that probably no other brand polarises opinion more than Bose so I guess we are simply reflecting that fact

Not so. Exhibit A...

Marmite?

Love the stuff?

Even called one of our cats Marmite (and no the other one isn't called Bose)

I've always thought that Sonos is what Bose should've been. The whole idea of Bose is its simplicity & is aimed at people who're not bothered about the specs of their systems, nor are they worried about "mid range" etc.

Sonos also is something very simple & has appealed to audiophiles & general consumers alike. Bose has been slow in adopting new technology like HDMI, blu-ray, music streaming etc.

It's better late than never. I certainly am intrigued about this new product.

They already do the Bose link though. My money is still on wireless headphones.

Bose are going to have to pull out something extraordinary to make it easier to use than Sonos though.

At least Sonos let you know what's inside and some technical information unlike Bose who tell you nowt. "Trust me I'm a doctor" is their motto methinks. Looked at a 321 GS system last year, sounded okay, not that bad but no headphone socket?

They miss basic basic stuff.

Still can't criticise that their marketing obviously appeals to the masses.

It's certainly something wireless. It may well be wireless headphones. Bose link is quite rubbish actually. It's nothing compared to Sonos or AirPlay.

Well, nothing apart from launched in its wireless form in 2005, and in wired form somewhat earlier.
