Hi everybody,
I had my freesat dish installation on today.

Even though I mentioned I would like 60cm dish installed they
told me that there is no point in doing that and they will install 45cm
standard sky dish… Is that true I won’t gain anything from having bigger dish?
Now it is installed I have 60% signal strength, but again

they said it’s fine and won’t have any difference in picture quality if the
signal is stronger. Is that true?

I’ve connected everything to my TV and the picture is really
blur compared to my freeview (from small internal aerial)! I am using only
scart connection but the same cable for freeview. I am not talking about HD
signal as I can’t test it yet (next month new TV) but only SD signal which is
really bad compared to my freeveiw. Is it true that there is nothing I can do
(bigger dish, better LNB, etc.. as they claim (installers). They say it’s the
problem with my box, TV, cables, ect….
But all that works fine on my freeviw.. Please help…. Should I ask them to
change the dish or LNB or something on their side or there is nothing I can do
and that is really the problem of the freesat box (thay say that they may not
be RGB Scars outputs or something).

Please help…..

Thanks in advance for all your help and advice.

I have a HUMAX FOXSAT Freesat HD BOX and I also have a 60cm DISH and 0.2db INVERTO LNB. The HD pictures are great though the SD pictures are admittedly somewhat softer yet on a par with thsoe via a SKY HD box....really a marginal difference between the two

You will get a higher gain with a 60 cm DISH and are less likely to experience Drop Out compared to the ridculoulsy small 45cm SKY DISH

My advice also is when you get your new TV is too connect it with HDMI anf if you don't already have one get the HUMAX FOXSAT HD FREESAT Box

Also have a look at https://www.satalogue.com/contents.htm

Hi, as the signal is digital, a stronger signal will only help pictures that freeze or drop out - the clarity of the picture is determined by the decoder (in your case, the Foxsat).

Once you go HD, you will notice a big difference, but in the short term, why not just use the freeview channels if they are better quality?

I believe that Freesat specify a 60cm dish although they also say you can use your existing Sky dish ie 45cm for Freesat.

So whilst its possible to use the smaller Sky dish to receive Freesat, their official recommendation is for the bigger dish. As to whether or not it will make any difference, I honestly couldn't tell you although I would comment that the satellites used to transmit Freesat are some of the very weakest as I believe the aim was to keep the service tightly focused on the Uk only.
