Blue Ray - Discontinued?

Ok, I'm confused.

What's the script with Blue-Ray? I thought Sony had given up on this idea and were scrapping the project. Is this now not the case, or was this never the case? Either way, could someone please explain?

as far as i know sony are still in the market, and everyone else is slowly joining (the HD DVD rivals)

it is hd dvd that lost the high def war to blu ray. Blu ray is now the supported format by all of the major manufacturers (incl sony) and the film studios.
