Afternoon,

I've currently got an 8000s Amp and looking to buy a 8000p power amp (Can't really afford to mono blocks

). Does this mean i will be able to bi-amp ?

Thanks,

Gbeer7

Hopefully, another Audiolab/Tag owner will be able to offer some advice...

However, I bi-amp in that manner with my Cyrus setup. I have a 7 integrated and Smart Power Plus power amp where both have the same 70wpc rating. The integrated powers the high frequency and the power amp powers the low frequency.

It works perfectly

Yes you can definately biamp like Nathanc does with his Cyrus.

Heres a link to the manual. It shows you exactly how to do it. Yud want to do the pre- power option.

Hope this helps.

dont no if this is posible for you but i found vertical amping better .ie one two channel amp per speaker.i noticed a much better stereo sound

Gbeer7:How do you mean ? Like getting the 8000m Monoblocs ?

I think he means using one amp for Left speaker, one for right, instead of half of each for left speaker, half of each for right speaker.

oh right. Would that mean they get different amounts of power to each ?

Howeverthat's obviously not 'one two channel amp per speaker' 😉

Mine is a mix of monobloc'ing and biamping - two monos each deal with one speakers HF and MF. One stereo power amp deals with both speakers LF.

To my ears in my room it sounds very good!

I orignally had it set up just with the 60w stereo power amp. Then I introduced the two 40w monoblocs and it made a dramatic difference. I'm not sure what the exact reason was as it could be any/all of the following:

- introduction of more current overall

- separation of the bass driving from the mid/treble

- channel separation of the mid/treble

In fairness the effect of monobloc'ing and/or bi/triamping is going to be hugely affected by your speakers.

Cheers,

Rob

yaah thats it one two chanel amp per speaker.i used to have one amp doing mid and one doing high witch sounded fine but after a couple of months i switched to vertical amping and the stereo afect was much more obvious

.

You'll have to forgive my lack of precision - I made the assumption that, as the OP was talking about bi-amping, he'd realise, from my reference to "halves" of an amplifier, that, in so-called "vertical bi-amping" one channel would handle the LF and one the HF duties. Mea culpa.
