bi amping from one av amp???

I own a yamaha rx-v3800 av amp wich is able to bi amp the front speakers when using it as 5.1 in steadf of 7.1 mode would it do any good to use it like that?or doesnt it actually do something? I hevent tried it yet becouse of a shortage of sopeaker cable Im using it with b&w cm7 speaker witch are excelent btw best regards Backx

I have the RXV2600 and run that biamped using the function you mention. I upgraded the amp from a DSPAX757 and have had it biamped from day one and it sounds very good indeed. Bass is far more controlled and weighty, and detail improved but that may be just the amp rather than the biamping. Its certainly done no harm though.
