Best way to improve an Ipod based system?

Been reading through this thread with interest as I was looking to hook up my iPad Mini through the DAC in my EMC1UP and unsure if possible, or even worthwhile.

Unfortunately, your CDP does not have a digital input so some other solution would be needed. The best solutions IMO are the Apple AEX which uses WiFi or the QED uPlay Plus that uses Bluetooth - both have the choice of both analogue & optical outs. The advantage over a dock is that music can be selected on the iPhone/iPad etc from the listening position.

ah thats a shame because my cd player has a nice sound. i think my first move will be to buy an airport express and then in the future add an external dac.
