Hi, I really do not want to use my Sneaky DS as a transporter because it just seems like overkill, basically i need a device that has no DAC but does have a digital coax out and can obviously get my flac stored music files in a perfect signal to the speakers. Regards Danny.

You could buy an external soundcard which has an optical or coax digital out.
I used a creative live external card for a long time, and used an optical cable to connect it with my receiver.

Maybe check first if the headphone-out on the laptop isn't a combination of headphone/optical digital-out. I have that on an old HP laptop too.

gooner I use a Behringer UCA202 and connect one end via usb to my laptop and the other via a Toslink cable to my Avi 9.1's it also has a phono connection, and cost about £30.00 from a supplier of ebay. it works a treet. Thanks again to IDC
