Best speakers to bring my Arcam Alpha 8 amp and Marantz CD67SE alive?

Hi. I'm limited (by space and wife) to bookshelf speakers, and really want to get the most out of my amp and CD player. Currently using Wharfedale Diamond 9.1, are there any sub-£300 speakers which would get more more of my system? Or should I dump the CD player.......?

I also own a Marantz CD-67 SE player, connected to a Marantz PM6004 amp and KEF Q100 speakers. Although slightly above budget at £379 they are superb speakers, producing a big and natural sound. I'd highly recommend an audition. I'm really glad I kept my old CD player - I never realised it could sound so good - so don't be in a hurry to replace yours!
