best source as regards dvd playback

here is my current kit

Pana th37px80 TV
Onkyo 606 av reciever

currently i have a toshiba EP-30 HD DVD player for DVD duites and i know its regarded as a good upscaler...but would a PS3 be any better or perhaps a denon 1940 dvd player would be better

or

will it make no odds at the TV is 720p anyway?

As you get a Sony BDP S350 blu ray player for similar money , I'd be inclined to suggest that, as it is a great upscaler of dvd, but then have the joy of having a blu ray player too.

To be honest, I would never buy a dvd again after seeing blu ray, anyway.

And i've got the 42" version of your 'HD ready' only tv!!!

My BDP-S350 is a better DVD player than what I was previously using, a 3/4 year old RDR-HXD910 DVD/HDD recorder (relegated to bedroom duties).

I believe Gerrardasnails has said he believes his BDP-S550 is better than his former Denon 1940 at DVD playback.
