Thanks for the heads up PP. As a lifelong City fan, things like this are always of interest. Met the man in the 70's at Maine Road and he always got a standing ovation everytime he turned up.Still does.

A very noble deed. It shows the depth of feeling that goes far beyond a uniform.

I knew so little of Bert beforehand. I knew he'd broken his neck and he was German but had no inclination of his wartime exploits.

These are the sort of characters that stay in the psyche of ordinary people regardless who you support or age.
