Beginner to the Turntable market

Hi all,

I've recently rediscovered vinyl and after a month of listening (enduring) to the horrendous quality of the built in speakers I now have a budget to work with to help me build a system that I can enjoy vinyl the way it was meant to be listened too. I have a small budget to work with (£200-£250) which I know is very small but I want to use this as a foundation to upgrade as I go along.

What I need is advice on what I'd need as a beginner on equipment and cables.

What are you currently listening on? You mention "built-in speakers", so I take it you don't have a separate amp and speakers to go with the turntable.
