Bass module on hard floor or carpet?

I have ordered a Sony HD panel and Alphason stand for it to go on; this being wider than the existing setup, my Bose bass module, with two downward-pointing drivers, now needs to go behind everything the stand. This gives me the option of removing a section of carpet or adding some hard flooring. Am I right in thinking that a hard surface is preferable to carpet for this sort of module?

The Bose should work fine on carpet.

Thanks for your reply; so I take it there is no particular advantage in placing this module on a hard floor.
