Visited my local hi fi guy yesterday, told me about the new diamond range, it seems that each speaker has went up by approx £2000

is it me or does anyone else think that b&w are taking the proverbial here.

It depends what B&W have done to the new models which dictates price. I'm personally not up on the range at the moment as we don't stock them (yet) so I cna't say what the differences are, but it echoes the change from KEF's Reference range to the /2 models, which if I recall correctly went up by something like 30/40%. But the changes made were pretty big.

Sometimes you have to take large teps in order to forward a speaker's technology/quality.

Not heard the new diamond range but used to own nautilus 803's. I think the top models, N802,801, and 800 were amazing speakers but the lesser models were too expensive for what you got in comparison.
Only kept the N803's about 8 months.

Having not as yet heard the new speakers, I have no way of judging.

They'd have to justify the extra outlay otherwise they won't sell - then they'll have to sell by reputation rather than by demo.

£3750 for a pair of bookshelves, then the stands, then a whole load of kryptonite to drive them, then cables, best part of £10000 to listen to a pair of bookshelves

It's now cheaper to buy KEF Reference......201/2 standmounts £3k. it'll be an interesting comparison.

Im from Derbyshire myself but have lived in Dublin for 12 years now.
Yes we do tend to get ripped off over here, the euro price often being twice the sterling price. Its not as bad as it was a few years ago but still expensive. Some brands in the shop like cyrus are on par with the UK.
