i have a denon 2310 with kef 3005se and would like to add some stereo speaker for music, i was looking at the b&w 685 but a friend suggested that would be a waste of a good set of speakers and a cheaper pair would do the job with this amp whats the opinion on here ???

I'd sell the KEFs and upgrade to the B&W 685 Theatre package - or at least the front three and keep some tiny KEFs for the rears, if you can't stand the thought of larger rears. It'll be a great match for the Denon with movies and music, with headroom to spare (the Denon can drive an even bigger speaker package if needed...)

iv only had the system about 3 months i like the sound it gives for movies and blends well with the room the stereo speakers will be in a different room for just music

I'd find a dealer that stocks Denon and B&W and hear the combo yourself; remember, the B&Ws thrive on solid stands and are too brawny for a bookshelf placement. Wharfedale's Diamond 10.1s are also worth an audition with the Denon.
