I have the Marantz m-cr610, now I'm looking for the right set of speakers. I'm thinking on B&W 685 S2. Maybe in the future with a sub.
Good choice or better suggestion/option?
Thx!

Also, my Solo Mini drove the 685 S1s just fine. The paper specs may contradict it, but B&W suggest all their latest 600 series speakers are more sensitive than the previous series.

That's the problem with forums dieterdr there will always be conflicting opinions.
I guesss your only choice is to try to get youe CR610 to a B&W dealers and have a listen yourself.
However my statement regards more efficient speakers remains true.
Whici is maybe why manicm uses MA RX1's
dieterdr said:Hellow,
thx for the reactions. Tomorrow I'll go to a local store where I can listen to the B&W 685's. Today I heared the 684 on a 610 mcr and the sound was great for my opinion. The man in the store said that I don't need a subwoofer... but in the future I'll use it as a 2.1 set for my tv. But the mcr610 don't split the bass to the sub I think...

Are you being argumentative for the sake of it?? Did you read my post? I had the 685 S1s originally with my Solo Mini (88db, 8ohms, 3.8 ohms minimum - S2s are 87db, 8 ohms, 4 ohms minimum so are actually a bit easier to drive). I only sold them because I moved and acquired a CA Minx 2.1 speaker system - my Solo Mini has an Sub input.
I miss the 685s terribly - they were great speakers. So as far as they go I speak from experience and you speak from....paper specs.
With the exception of the smaller 686s, the previous and current 600 series were always relatively efficient speakers.

And ask the dealer too! It is their job to keep customers happy.dieterdr said:I'm not a specialist Tomorrow I'll hear the 685's en then I'll tell you my opinion Do you have any suggestion for other speakers?

I am not normally considered argumentative, and of course I read your post. You might have noticed that I did not quote any specs it is you that did this.
And I am considerably experienced with B&W speakers and, like you have owned the 685's in the past along with quite a few others.
I do not believe in paper specs as you put it and was simply informing the OP that there were other and quite posssibly better choices when in comes to matching speakers with his CR610.
As far as I was aware that was the whole point of this forum, to pass on suggestions from past experience, as you have attempted to do.
