I have been offered a really good deal on a set of KEF 2005.3s and an Onkyo 606, but don't want to get sucked in to buying an inferior amp/speaker combo by a good deal.

Regardless of the ratings here on whathifi.com (where the Yamaha 763 would be the obvious choice), would the Onkyo 606, the Yamaha 763 or the Denon 1909 work best with these speakers? I've heard somewhere that Onkyo's work very well with KEF speakers, is this true?

Any advice would be very much appreciated,

Thanks.

Ive got the Onkyo 606 and it's a great amp, audtioned the Kef 2005.3 with it, but in the end preferred the Quad-lites. I think now with all the sales and newer models, i would look at the Denon 1909 for less than £300 and the Onkyo 806 for £399. Imho i would Audtion all of them if you can, but i would be tempted by the 806 at that price, as i paided £360 for 606 and 806 has a few good improvements ie upscaling to 1080p. Kef's are £495 at Exceptional av, so depending on what offers you can get i would buy them seperate.

Thanks for the heads up. Where have you seen the 806 for £399?
