Hi guys,

I'm looking at using my DAC or Headphone amp to get me into the pre/power market. Has anyone got any experience with the audiolab 8000P as I've seen one for £200 and wonder if it will be an upgrade on my present set up (see sig). I have been looking at a naim nap150 also, but its a little out of my price range atm and I'm not sure if I can use my equipment with its DIN connections?

I might be barking up the wrong tree here so straighten me out if you think this is a bad idea or if there is a better option.

Thanks.

I'm rather intrigued by the Audiolab 8000P too, but I can't find any reviews anywhere. Wonder why the new batch haven't been reviewed when the former versions used to be a favourite with WHF?

Have you seen them for £200 new or is that second-hand?

That was second hand from ebay. Just missed the chance now though it sold yesterday. I'm really looking for some advice here but it seems everyone is preoccupied, I think I will line up some auditions and just give it a try, don't want to miss another potential bargain.

Well, been talking to a guy on another forum who has owned some recent Audiolab amps and he really rated them, but warned that they need to be partnered carefully. Then went into a hifi retailer today (who shall remain nameless) and he totally slated them (along with Quad being owned by the same Japanese corporate group). So I guess you either take a chance or try and audition one somewhere!
