My Audio Analogue Maestro Settanta when someone comes over to a demo tomorrow, what should I go for to replace it. preferably 2nd hand or ex demo with about £1,500 or so.

I like smooth, I like detail, I like warmth.

Music tastes is electronic and acoustic, not so much rock. Artists I'm currently listening to regularly are:

- Angus & Julia Stone

- Talk Talk

- Leftfield

- Elbow

- Thievery Corporation

- Tracy Chapman

It needs to be silver too.

Thanks

seriously ... I have a feeling you will never find 'salvation' in transistors ... therefore you are a prime candidate for valves. Try some.

I maybe looking for a new system too. I am actually very happy with mine, which is worth peanuts but nevertheless, I will try again a Naim system and an ATC one. Perhaps I should try valves again too. Copeland?

I'm very happy with mine but I had set my heart upon winning the Unico 100 on fleabay, and have someone who is keen on my AA. So if the deal is right I will be in the market again.

Why are you selling so soon after buying it Joel?

Luxman SQ-38U (or a good used example. The SQ-38 versions go back to 1963)

About 4000 Euros + VAT last year.

Or second-hand Luxman/Accuphase solid state class A integrated.

You have more contact with the sort of dealers who can sniff these out (unlikely you will find them on ebay)

I think that would be a step down fro what I have.

Sorry mate, us mere mortals consider that a high quality premium amp, obviously your price range is in a different galaxy though, so fair point.

I've probably missed the thread to this question but what don't you like about the amp you have?

Good spot.
Very nice pioneers.
How much do you think they are worth?
Are they worth an investment.

£800 will be a bargain IMHO ... they may even sell for less

matengawhat:35 year old capacitors / resisters ect no thanks

it's a chance you take ... £130 gets a full service with recap and calibrated (should last another 30 years)

Oh no .... not required ... they have already been serviced

I love the amp I have, but I like upgrading 🙂

Fair enough, it's always good.

Just sent the seller of the Pioneer's a email about the service and asked about receipt's for such, let's see what he's got!
