are these worth keeping an eye on?

Planning a busman's holiday, Max? No idea (that's a deer with no eyes), but RS should be strolling up soon.

Yoo hoo! Wait a minute, I've already arrived...!

No PayPal? I wouldn't give it five minutes of my time Max. They've got some bumps and dings to the cabinet, so what's to say that there isn't something amiss internally? PayPal gives you the security the cash in hand doesn't. Plus, his listing flouts the Ebay regs, which stipulate that PayPal must be offered I think. Yes, great speakers, but if you want a pair, get in touch with Graeme at Retro Reproduction in Edinburgh. He has a pair of the original 753s for £249 and I think he'll ship them.

hmmm, i thought they were a bit cheap :O , i'm not looking for speakers myself, just thought id help someone else get robbed highlight them for someone else 🙂

They've probably gone on for 99p, or the like. They'll probably go for something like £150-200 in the end I think. They look alright, I've seen worse, but if they're not, then it could be a fun caper trying to get the money back.

it's obvious i'm not an avid ebayer, when i say cheap i mean there's no reserve 🙂

In this instance I don't think the lack of PayPal is significant. As it's collection only I would demand a dem and give'em a good workout before I parted with any money.

And - having won the items - you would be obliged to buy them, if their condition was as described and they worked as described.

The demo would only be to ascertain those two things.

Even if the sound was not quite to your particular taste, you would still need to pay up. Private sellers are not running hifi dealer style demo rooms. As soon as you bid you are effectively agreeing to pay, if you win and the items are as described.

If it does exactly as described, but pictures can be deceiving, and not everyone - present company excepted - are as liberal with the truth.

Awesome Awesome speakers that kick butt big time.................i had them (in black) until the kids played mischief with them and it was wasn't worth repairing them.

Bear in mind with 753's that spares can only be had for the Freedom versions, not the standard ones - I'm assuming that would only be a matter of time too....

Just to clear this up, there's a scam-esque technique going around just now involving paypal. Basically you pay the item by paypal, go collect it, get home and contact paypal saying you never got it or that the seller is ignoring you. PayPal almost always go in your favour, bam, you got it for nothing. So if someone is ever picking something up from you and has paid with paypal, make sure to make them sign a receipt or get some other proof that they obtained the item.

Some people are also greedy and just don't want to pay the fees aswell. It's against eBay rules to not take paypal aswell, so if you won them and paid him by paypal, by eBay rules he must give you the item.
